Whether you drink wine for the love of the art, to relieve stress, or to socialize with others, there’s a lot to understand about this classic beverage. Besides socialization or relieving stress, many tout that wine is packed with a variety health benefits.
(These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Wine is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.)
1. Calming effects. Who doesn’t love to take in a glass of wine after a long day at the office? We want to unwind, and wine is the best companion.
2. Prevents coronary heart diseases? Some epidemiological studies suggest that wine can alter blood lipid levels, lowers cholesterol count, and raises high-density lipoprotein levels. One of the elements that experts believe to boost this cardio-protection effect is the polyphenols, which contains antioxidant and free radical scavenging properties.
3. Anti-oxidant properties. Wine is packed with powerful anti-oxidants such as polyphenols and flavonoids, which are rich in anti-bacterial components.
4. Anti-bacterial. Studies found out that those who drink wine have lesser Helicobacter pylori – a bacteria that causes ulcers. Those who drink one glass a day had 7 percent fewer, two glasses a day had 18 percent, and those who opt for three or more glasses of wine had 1/3 fewer Helicobacter pylori.
